Materials used

African Mahogany Khaya senegalensis

Colloquially referred to as Khaya, this favoured roadside tree is native to Tropical Africa. It was introduced to Singapore in the late 1970s and can grow up to 30m in height. African Mahogany is extremely hardy and adaptable in our harsh climate.

A medium hardwood, it owns deep, dark reddish hues with straight to interlocking grains. When freshly cut, it sometimes showcases pale pink tones that darken over time. Commonly used to make furniture, cabinetry and boats.
