A magnetic twist added to a traditional men’s shaving brush.
A levitating traditional men’s shaver set, made with local raintree. For the magnetic levitation to function, we had to figure out the right balance between the magnets, thickness and weight of the wood.
Once we settled on the rough shape of the base, we had to then decide on the shape of the shaving brush’s handle. Through rounds of prototyping, this shape was the most stable of the lot. The rounded handle allowed for a balanced repelling force on the magnets, causing it to float. Its organic shape also added a nice feel when held in your hands.
Definitely a fun project for us to experiment with!
